The Ducati 696

Step into the cult of the NEW Monster family... Ducati Monster 696

For the first time in 15 years the Ducati Monster has been changed. New looks....New Engine....New Chassis......Same Soul!!

This is far from a simple cosmetic makeover Ducati follow one path of development; everything stems from their racing experiences (except for artistic flair perhaps - that we think has to come from within). The development of the Ducati Monster 696 is no exception to the rule.

What was the design criteria for the Ducati Monster 696? - A comfortable motorcycle that could provide a smooth and agile ride that maintained the soul of the Ducati Monster as we knew it....... TALL ORDER!!

What's been changed........

  • Brakes - The Ducati Monster 696 now has radially mounted brembo calipers.
  • Steering angle has been made steeper to ensure faster "turn in" when demanded.
  • An all new Aluminium swing arm that has stiffened the chassis for improved handling and feedback.
  • Desmosedici style frame that has been combined with a cast alloy subframe to produce this all new chassis.
  • An all new stylish digital dashboard.
  • Increased fuel tank capacity.
  • Improved engine performance thanks to re-designed combustion chamber, inlet and outlet ports.
  • Improved rideability - especially at low revs thanks to a new ECU that is now supported by 2 onboard lambda sensors.
  • Improved rider comfort with a more upright riding position, rubber mounted handlebars and lower and narrower seating position that allowed for a further 15mm of seat foam.
  • Improved night vision with a triple parabola headlamp and bright LED tail light.
  • Weight has been reduced substantially which married with the geometry changes mentioned above make the Ducati Monster 696 a most flickable machine

These are only the major changes to the new Ducati Monster 696.................................

APTC CLUTCH
The new Ducati Monster 696 continues to use the APTC clutch

The Adler Power Torque Clutch, a Ducati exclusive, makes the Monster 696 even friendlier, safer and more comfortable. It provides a clutch pull that is amazingly light, while also including ‘slipper’ clutch benefits. A ‘slipper’ clutch, typically found on race bikes, benefits the rider by reducing the destabilizing rear wheel ‘lock-up’ or ‘chatter’ phenomenon when downshifting aggressively. It also benefits advanced riders, and racers alike, for the very same reasons.

All in all this has produced a new generation Monster that is the lightest bike in its class at a mere 161kg with a power increase of some 10% and torque improvements of nearly 15% over the M695 of 2007. More comfortable, more agile and a smoother ride.
As for the styling.....we love it!!
